What Is Stingless Bee?

Stingless bees, known locally as lebah kelulut and scientifically classified under the tribe Meliponini, are harmless honey-producing insects found in tropical and subtropical regions. Unlike the common honey bee (Apis mellifera), they have no functional sting, making them safe to handle.

These small pollinators live in colonies, building their hives in hollow tree trunks or specially designed wooden boxes. They produce a rare honey that has a tangy-sweet, slightly sour taste and is valued for its high antioxidant and medicinal properties.

Their Home In Malaysia

In Malaysia, stingless bees thrive in warm, humid environments across both Peninsular and East Malaysia. They are found in the lush rainforests of Sabah and Sarawak, coastal zones of Terengganu and Pahang, agricultural lands in Johor and Kedah, and rural highlands in Kelantan and Perlis.

Malaysia’s tropical biodiversity provides these bees with a wide variety of floral nectar sources, giving Kelulut honey its unique flavor and rich nutrient profile.

Why They’re Special?

Stingless bees are exceptional not only for their gentle nature but also for their low honey yield — producing only about 1 kilogram per hive per year compared to 20–30 kilograms from regular honey bees.

Their honey is naturally stored in small resin-like wax pots inside the hive instead of flat honeycombs, preserving its enzymes and bioactive compounds. For centuries, local communities have treasured Kelulut honey for its energy-boosting effects, immune support, and role in traditional medicine.

Our Kelulut honey is sourced from stingless bee hives located deep within lush acacia forests. Acacia trees are rich in nectar, giving our honey its distinctive light amber color, floral aroma and smooth tangy-sweet taste.

These forests provide a clean, pesticide-free environment where bees can forage naturally, ensuring every drop of honey is pure and chemical-free. The diverse flowering cycles of acacia trees also mean our honey is harvested at peak nectar flow, locking in maximum flavor and nutrients.
